Shameful MP of the Day - September 20

​Anita Anand is more than an MP -she is Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.  The International Association of Genocide Scholars has declared that the assault on Gaza by Israel is a genocide.  The UN has declared that Israel’s assault on Gaza is a genocide.  Anita Anand?  She will not acknowledge that what has been happening in Gaza for the last two years is a genocide.
Rather than take meaningful action against Israel – a complete two-way arms embargo, economic sanctions and absolute adherence to international law – she has  continued to provide empty words for the people of Palestine.  Despite more than 680000 Palestinians murdered over the last 2 years in Gaza Canada continues to “review its relationship with Israel”. 
Anand has confirmed that recognition of Palestine by Canada will not come with normalization of relationships -  “normalization is completely different than recognition”.  Anand wanted to send a clear message to Israel and its supporters that Canada’s recognition of Palestinian statehood is an empty gesture.  The recognition of Palestine will give cover as Canada continues to provide support for the genocide in Gaza.   Anand is unwilling to do anything meaningful for the suffering people of Gaza. Are we surprised that she couldn’t take 100 steps from her office to honour and remember the murdered children of Gaza by saying their names aloud?
